It was the longest State of the Union in history, but it’s what the President didn't say that is haunting the headlines this morning. From a mathematically impossible $18 trillion investment claim to the deafening silence on the UFO disclosure he promised just days ago, the evening was a masterclass in redirection. While the USS Gerald Ford moves into striking distance of Iran, the American public is left wondering why 53 pages of the Epstein files remain under lock and key—and why the "transparency" we were promised seems to have vanished into thin air.
The $18 Trillion Magic Act
In the middle of his two-hour marathon, the President dropped a number that made economists’ jaws hit the floor. He claimed that in the last 12 months, he has secured $18 trillion in new investment commitments for the U.S.
To put that in perspective, $18 trillion is roughly 60% of the entire U.S. GDP. The administration’s own website lists major investment announcements at $9.7 trillion, and even that includes vague "handshakes" and pledges that were in motion years ago. By treating "potential future promises" like cash already in the register, the speech painted a picture of a "roaring" economy that the actual data simply can't find.
The Missing 53 Pages
If the economic claims were "ghost money," the Epstein files provided the "ghost documents." An NPR investigation confirmed yesterday that at least 53 specific pages of FBI interviews are missing from the Department of Justice’s public database. These missing pages reportedly contain testimony from a woman who alleged sexual abuse by the President in the 1980s.
The tension boiled over when Reps. Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar shouted "Release the files!" from the floor. The President’s retort—"These people are crazy"—sparked a roar from his supporters, but it didn't answer the question: why is the DOJ withholding specific interviews that a law was passed to make public?
The "Midnight Hammer" Encore
Turning to the world stage, the vibe shifted to a war footing. The USS Gerald R. Ford, the world’s largest aircraft carrier, has officially arrived at Souda Bay, joining a massive build-up of over 150 aircraft in the region.
The President issued a chilling ultimatum to Tehran: unless Iran says the "secret words"—"We will never build a nuclear weapon"—they face a repeat of Operation Midnight Hammer. It was a high-stakes "Peace Through Strength" gamble, but critics worry it’s a "green light" for a conflict that the American public isn't prepared for.
The Great UFO Bait-and-Switch
Finally, there was the "silence in the stars." Just days ago, the President used Truth Social to promise a total declassification of UFO and "alien" files to "get Obama out of trouble." Many tuned in last night expecting the "Disclosure Address" of the century. Instead, the word "UFO" was never mentioned.
Was the alien talk just a "shiny object" to distract us from the NPR report on the Epstein files? It seems the administration is happy to talk about Martians on social media, but prefers to keep the real files right here on Earth under lock and key.
Beyond the Red and the Blue
As the sun rises over the Capitol this morning, the echo of last night's applause is already being replaced by hard questions. We don't need a "Red America" or a "Blue America" that hides files and inflates numbers to score points. We need a Red, White, and Blue America that is brave enough to be transparent and honest enough to admit the math.
Last night was a reminder that while the carrier groups move and the files remain locked, the heart of the country still beats for a truth that belongs to all of us. It’s time to put the political games aside and remember that we are one people, under one flag, looking for one version of the truth.
